Police believe that a white Golf R car may be connected to the incident.
Officers are appealing for information about an incident in Markfield during which two people were assaulted.
Police received a call at around 11.15 pm on Wednesday 6 December to report that two people were attempting to steal from a van parked in Marston Drive.
The van owner approached the people and was assaulted by four males. He sustained an injury to the head.
The suspects made off in a vehicle around 11.20pm.
PC 322 Lara Hardy-Smith is the investigating officer. She said: “The victim required medical treatment but thankfully he was not seriously injured.
"From enquiries carried out, we believed a white Golf R car may be connected to the incident.
“We would like to appeal to anyone who may have any information regarding the incident, whether that is the people involved or the Golf.
“If you have any information which can assist our investigation, please get in touch.”
