Both sites are planned to reopen as normal from next Thursday (21st July).
Lutterworth and Shepshed’s household waste and recycling sites will not be open this weekend because of staff shortages.
This means that the Lutterworth site will be shut on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday and the Shepshed site will be closed temporarily for one day on Saturday (16 July).
Both sites are planned to reopen as normal from next Thursday (21 July).
The county council said that illness and difficulties in recruiting and retaining staff are the cause of staff shortages.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire County Council said: “Our staff have been working very hard to keep our waste sites open and keep any disruption to the service to a minimum but staff shortages remain a continuing issue.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused and we would like to thank people for their understanding and patience.”
The Market Harborough, Loughborough and Lount waste sites will be open.
