The A5 Concept Link is still in the early stages of development.
On Friday, a report will be made to the Leicestershire County Council's Cabinet about a potential road link to connect the A5 and A47 in Hinckley.
Councillors will decide whether to approve the report to take the idea to the next stage and understand its potential for delivery.
The report states that a potential route for the A5 Concept Link is still in the early stages of development.
Initial designs show the road starting at the roundabout on the Dodwells Road with Roston Drive and then travelling over the Ashby Canal and ending on the A5 Watling Street past the Longshoot.
One of the reasons the recommendation for a new road has been made is 'existing issues and constraints at the Longshoot Dodwells junction (two junctions between the A5 and the A47 to the west of Hinckley) that cause problems of congestion, road safety and re-routeing of vehicle trips on to the local road network that the County Council is responsible for, as the Local Transport Authority.'
