Dog owners can get their pets microchipped for free in Loughborough over the next few weeks.
Charnwood Borough Council and College Garth Kennels are holding three free microchipping events.
Pet owners can get their dogs microchipped and there will also be free dog tags available and a competition for the prettiest pooch and most handsome hound, with a £25 gift voucher up for grabs.
It is illegal to own a dog which hasn’t got a microchip and people can be fined up to £500. A microchip can also help owners be reunited with their pets if they go missing.
The microchipping events will be held at:
- The Hut, Ashby Road, July 28, 2pm - 4pm
- Marios Tinenti Centre, Russell Street, August 1, 2pm – 4pm
- The All Together Place, Warwick Way Estate, August 2, 2.30pm - 4.30pm.
The events come soon after Charnwood Borough Council launched its Don’t Muck Around Campaign to tackle issues with dogs, littering and fly-tipping in the borough.
The campaign calls on people to take responsibility for their waste, including dog muck. For more information, please visit www.charnwood.gov.uk/DMA.
