Get up to speed with broadband roll out

A special event about the roll out of broadband across Leicestershire is taking place at County Hall next week.

People wanting to find out more about the roll out of broadband across Leicestershire are encouraged to come along to a special event.

The event, which takes place in the Guthlaxton committee room at County hall on Monday 29 July, is for residents, communities, businesses to find out more about progress and future connection plans. 

Since 2013, Leicestershire County Council has been connecting homes and businesses, filling in the gaps of commercial fibre broadband, through its Superfast Leicestershire programme.

Currently 96 per cent of Leicester and Leicestershire has been upgraded to superfast fibre broadband, equating to over 75,000 premises.

At the event, officers from the Superfast Leicestershire and Openreach project teams will set out which areas can expect an upgrade and will be on hand to answer any questions.

“I encourage everyone who has an interest in this programme to come along to the event.

“Improving broadband connections across the county will help ensure that businesses and residents in Leicestershire are reaching their potential. By upgrading broadband infrastructure, we are future proofing our county.

“We are committed to upgrading 100 per cent of the county to fibre broadband and will be continuing the roll out over the next few years.”
