Information needed after a pedestrian has died in a collision on the A50

The incident involved a grey Toyota Prius and a pedestrian – a woman in her 40s.

Police are appealing for information after a pedestrian has died in a collision on the A50 Groby Road, Leicestershire.

At around 11 pm on Saturday 30 December, police were called to a report of a collision on the southbound carriageway - outside the Shell petrol station, close to the roundabout with Gynsill Lane.

The incident involved a grey Toyota Prius and a pedestrian – a woman in her 40s.

East Midlands Ambulance Service attended and the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers believe several vehicles travelled past the petrol station around the time of the incident.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the woman before the collision, particularly anyone with dashcam footage.

As part of the investigation, a man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
