Stephen Beadman was sentenced to a minimum of 35 years in prison for Kayleigh’s murder.
The 34-year-old man from Ibstock admitted to raping and murdering Kayleigh Haywood in November 2015.
A Prison Service spokesperson said:
“HMP Wakefield prisoner Stephen Beadman died in hospital on 8 April. The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman has been informed.”
Kayleigh was groomed over a two-week period by a man named Luke Harlow, who is also serving 12 years in prison for grooming and false imprisonment.
After exchanging over 2600 texts Harlow met with Kayleigh before introducing her to his neighbour Stephen Beadman.
Leicestershire police, with the support of Kayleigh's family, made a film showing parts of the last 14 days of her life called 'Kayleigh’s Love Story.' It aims to warn other people of the dangers of speaking to strangers online and how quick online grooming can happen.
