Four suspects – dressed all in black – entered the store before fleeing.
Officers are appealing for information following the attempted theft of an ATM in Barrow-upon-Soar.
At 1.55 am this morning (Friday) a white Transit van drove into the window of a store on High Street and attempted to take the ATM.
Four suspects – dressed all in black – entered the store before fleeing.
They left the scene in a black Audi, heading towards Cotes Road.
The Transit van was left at the scene.
DI Jason Fell, from the force’s Complex Investigation Team, said: “Anyone who has any information about who carried out this attack should come forward and speak to police.
“The damage caused to the shop is significant. Fortunately, the ATM was not taken and nothing else was taken from the store.
“We are carrying out door-to-door enquiries today and proactive patrols will be carried out by uniformed officers over the coming days.”
