Visitors need to ensure they are a safe distance away.
The Bradgate Park team are warning visitors that deer rutting season is upon us so stags will be unpredictable.
From September to November males will try to establish dominance over other stags.
The park has told visitors they know it is a spectacle of nature, but they need to ensure they are a safe distance away.
Bradgate Park has shared this advice:
- Keep Your Distance: Admire from afar, no closer than 50m. Rutting stags can be unpredictable, so give them space to do their thing and no loud noises or sudden movements around deer.
- Leash Up Your Pets: If you're out and about with a canine companion, make sure they're on a lead.
- Photography: It might be tempting to move in closer for a fantastic shot, but remember, you are dealing with testosterone-fuelled wild deer and should approach no closer than 50m.
- Respect Wildlife: Let them rut in peace. Never approach rutting deer if they are actively engaged. If they are, they recommend you keep your distance to 100m.
- Sanctuary Space: The Deer Sanctuary is always off-limits to the public, and visitors are reminded this area is only for our magnificent deer.
